The Mind & Body Connection

You may have anxiety associated with going to the dentist or with medical procedures such as exams, treatments, and surgery.  It's not surprising that the more nervous energy you bring to a procedure the more difficult or painful it can feel.  Anxiety can even cause an increase in complications during a procedure and lengthen recovery times after.

While standard practice is to knock a patient out with drugs, this is not always the appropriate route to take.  Drugs are a brute force approach to anxiety and pain and have their own hazards and complications.  Some people don't tolerate commonly used drugs or are allergic to them.

Hypnosis offers a natural way to reduce anxiety before, during, and after medical procedures.  It can be used to reduce pain in conjunction with drugs or, in some cases, in place of them. Used along with standard treatments the reduction in stress afforded by hypnosis increases the effectiveness of procedures, reduces complications, speeds healing, and improves outcomes.
